Status:

Common resident considered an endemic sub-species of its North American counterpart with shorter wings and duller plumage. North American race is a scarce fall migrant.


Local Habitat:

Parks, gardens, mangroves and woods.


Habits:

The year round “chick-of-the-village” song gives it its name. Feeds on insects and berries. Two or three eggs are laid in April or May.
