Gray Catbird

Status:
Common native resident. Lost much habitat due to woodland clearance and suffers from aggressive competition from kiskadee and starling.
Local Habitat:
Woods and scrubby thickets.
Habits:
Nests April to June, laying 3 or 4 bright blue-green eggs. Favours insects and berries. Its name comes from its cat-like “meow” call.
