Great Black-backed Gull

Status:

Formerly common overwintering bird with regular over-summering juvenile/immature birds. Numbers have declined in recent years. Seen primarily September to April, but recorded in every month.


Local Habitat:

Coastal and pelagic with birds being noted feeding around fishing boats offshore and returning to land. Often seen with Gull roost at Dockyard.


Commonly Seen:

Coastal waters around Island. Dockyard. Hamilton & St. Georges Harbours.
