Status:

Annual visitor in small numbers. Primarily a fall and winter visitor, but recently juvenile birds seen throughout the year. A likely future breeder but thus far breeding has not been confirmed


Local Habitat:

Can be located in/around any pond or marsh Island wide. Often found roosting amongst mangroves in secluded bays. Regular at Spittal Pond and Flatts Inlet.


Commonly Seen:

Spittal Pond, Coot Pond, Pembroke Marsh, Bernard Park (when flooded), Somerset Long Bay reserves, Flatt's Inlet
