Status:
Annual passage migrant. May be seen any month of the year but more common in early fall. May over-winter.
Local Habitat:
When seen is always on a pond or marsh edge.
Habits:
Probes deep in mud and pond edges with long bill. Often seen roosting with head and bill tucked into mantle.
Commonly Seen:
Spittal Pond, Devonshire Marsh, and regularly spotted on other small ponds around the island.
